Where to Buy the AP x Swatch Royal Pop

The complete playbook for the Royal Pop drop on May 16, 2026 — which Swatch stores carry it, how the queues work, and the lessons MoonSwatch buyers learned the hard way.

The Swatch x Audemars Piguet Royal Pop drops on May 16, 2026 at participating Swatch stores worldwide. There is no online sale, no pre-order, no reservation. If you want one on day one, you stand in a queue. This is the short, practical guide to doing that well.

Who is selling the Royal Pop?

Only participating Swatch stores. Not all Swatch boutiques are in the programme — historically Swatch picks a subset of flagship and high-traffic locations for these collab launches. Department-store counters, airport stores and outlet locations are usually excluded.

On launch morning the store finder will mark which boutiques in your country were allocated Royal Pop stock. If you don't see your local store flagged, the safest bet is to travel to the nearest flagship.

Can I buy it online?

No. Swatch hasn't sold a major Audemars Piguet or Omega collab online on launch day in any of the previous drops — the MoonSwatch in 2022 and the original AP x Swatch in 2024 were both in-store-only. The Royal Pop follows the same playbook. Beware of resellers listing "pre-orders" on Instagram or eBay; those are scams or grey-market.

How early should I arrive?

Conservative answer: two to four hours before opening. The MoonSwatch drop saw queues forming the night before in London, New York, Milan and Zurich. The Royal Pop will not be a quiet release — it's the loudest watch collab of 2026.

Stores in smaller cities and second-tier countries see shorter queues. If you're flexible, a 30-minute drive to a Swatch boutique outside the city centre can mean a 90-minute queue instead of a six-hour one.

What to bring

  • Photo ID. Swatch typically enforces a one-piece-per-customer limit and checks ID at the till.
  • Cash or contactless. Some boutiques throttle payment options on busy launch days.
  • A folding chair / water / a layer. Treat the queue like the airport: comfortable, hydrated, ready for weather.
  • A backup store. If your first choice sells out before you reach the counter, know which Swatch is next on your list.

Can I reserve one?

No. Phone reservations are not accepted at any participating Swatch boutique. If someone at the store offers to "hold one for you," that's a personal favour, not a Swatch policy — and it's rare on a launch day this busy.

Grey market and resale

Expect listings on Chrono24, StockX, eBay and Instagram within hours of launch — likely at 2-4x retail in the first week, settling lower as Swatch restocks. The MoonSwatch followed the same arc. If you're buying to wear, wait three to six months and let the secondary market settle. If you're buying to flip, you already know the playbook.

Country-by-country quick notes

Country guides go live on launch week. In the meantime, the store finder groups participating boutiques by city and region — start there and check the specific boutique page for opening hours.

Quick answers

What time will the stores open on May 16? Regular trading hours, but priority queues form 2–4 hours before.

Is the Royal Pop limited? Stock is allocated per store and per country. Not formally numbered, but availability is tight.

How much does it cost? The Lépine variant (crown at 12, hours and minutes only) is $400. The Savonnette variant (crown at 3, with small seconds at 6) is $420. Both available in all eight colourways.

Is it a wristwatch? No — the Royal Pop is a pocket watch. It ships with a calfskin lanyard and a desk stand, and you can buy a bioceramic wrist clip separately if you want to wear it on a strap.
