The Royal Pop is not the Royal Oak wristwatch — it's a tribute to a less-celebrated corner of AP's archive: the Royal Oak Pocket Watch reference 5697. The octagonal bezel, eight hexagonal screws and petite tapisserie dial are all here, faithfully rebuilt in Swatch's bio-sourced bioceramic case at 40 mm × 8.4 mm.
Eight colourways, each named after the number eight in a different language — Italian, French, German, English, Japanese, Mandarin, Spanish and the multi-colour "Pop". Two case variants: Lépine ($400, crown at 12) and Savonnette ($420, crown at 3 with small seconds). Both housing the new hand-wound SISTEM51 — the first hand-wound version of the calibre ever made — with 90 hours of power reserve.
Like the Omega x Swatch MoonSwatch in 2022, this is a Swatch Group strategy play: take an icon, lower the floor, let a generation try one on. The twist: instead of putting it on a wrist, they put it on a lanyard.
